It wouldn’t be the 4th of July without fireworks. We Americans love our traditions, and there’s something about cooking out with family and friends, making figure 8’s with sparklers against the night sky, and watching bright lights explode above Belleville that reminds us how blessed we are to live in The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. This summer we aren’t just celebrating America’s birthday, but Belleville’s, too! Learn about our town’s illustrious history at the Belleville Bicentennial year Independence Day celebration.
Belleville’s Bicentennial 4th of July
All year our city has celebrated 200 years of freedom and community values. Cherish our hometown at the “200 Years of History” show at the Southwestern Illinois College. After you’ve finished strolling through the display in the art gallery, you and your family can head back to the main campus for food, games, live music, and plenty of family-friendly fun. It all leads up to an incredible fireworks show. Head over to the campus of Southwestern Illinois College on Saturday, July 5th for a city-wide Independence Day celebration.
Fun Spot Closed for Independence Day
We know Independence Day isn’t a time to be cooped up indoors. While the families of Belleville enjoy cookouts, outdoor adventures, and fireworks shows, we’re refinishing the floors at Fun Spot skating center. We’ll be closed July 3-7 to perform yearly maintenance, cleaning, and polishing. When we open again next Tuesday, you’ll be amazed at how much smoother your roller-skating will be!
